The Challenge
In November 2018, a sports revolution took place in Australia with new streaming service KAYO Sports providing coverage of 50 different sports live on demand. The challenge was to create awareness of Kayo's coverage of the 2019 NFL Super Bowl, generate real excitement amongst sports-loving Aussies, and through that, drive subscriptions.
The Idea
The NFL Super Bowl is the most watched sports programme on the planet, and NFL a sport of growing interest amongst young Australians. What better way to get people talking about KAYO than launching a Super Bowl preview with a very real difference *a unique brand experience*.
We sourced the largest operating commercial barge on the eastern seaboard of Australia and transformed it into the world’s first floating NFL Field. The field was a scaled replica of the playing field at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia for Super Bowl LIII. The live action was enhanced by a big screen showcasing the capabilities of Kayo Sports.
The Outcome
The activation helped KAYO more than double subscriptions.
It was broadcast throughout Australia NZ and on the ESPN family of networks generating 284 media mentions across online, print and broadcast with a reach of 212.4 million.
In addition, it had a total social reach of more than 900k and more than 12k engagement across social becoming a Finalist for PR Idea of the Year at Mumbrella Sports Marketing Awards.
