The Challenge
In one of the most significant deals in Australian sporting history, FOX CRICKET secured the six-year cricket rights to all men's international Tests, ODIs and T20s, every BBL match, women's internationals and 23 WBBL.
FOXTEL needed to launch Australia's first ever 24x7 Cricket Channel in a manner that revolutionised the way cricket was presented.
The Idea
Guests entered through a Sydney Cricket Ground “player’s tunnel” experience where we brought to life the greatest moments of the game. They exited the tunnel onto the main cauldron complete with turf, cricket pitch and the deafening sound of a capacity crowd.
The arena was a 360-degree fully immersive stadium consisting of an 80 sqm 4K screen, two giant HD projector screens and two 88 sqm screens that flew away to reveal a grand stand for guests. The main event stage was shaped to mimic a cricket oval with sceptron light technology forming dramatic shapes that captured the iconography of cricket.
The Outcome
FOX Sports Cricket secured eight partners across the newly created 24/7 dedicated channel, generated 528 media mentions across online, print and broadcast reaching an audience of 195 million and achieved a total social reach of more than 150k. The event was attended by a cast of superstar athletes, the "who's who" of cricket powerbrokers, and a plethora of media across all platforms.
